The Roxboro Graded Schools Board elected Prof. R H Burns as superintendent for the next year to replace Prof. N C Newbold. Virginians Come Here to Marry in Durham Parsonage
Miss Florrie Ligon of Clarksville Virginia and Mr William C Moore of Currituck married Tuesday night at the First Baptist parsonage in Durham by Rev C J Thompson. They said they were not runaways and came to wed after stopping for supper at the Corcoran. The bride age 25 and groom 39, met during her visit to a sister in Durham. Moore is described as a well to do popular Currituck man.

European boat voyage by Trinity students Gilmer Siler and Louis Jaffe
Messrs Gilmer Siler and Louis Jaffe, Trinity students, spent over a month in Europe working their passage home. Siler visited relatives before returning to the western part of the state. Jaffe remained in Philadelphia to visit a friend before Durham. The trip impressed them as pleasant and affordable with students from northern colleges joining the practice. Dr. Julian A. Smith of this city is critically ill at Watts hospital after an operation, with some hope of recovery.

Man Charged With House Breaking in Wake County
Spencer Hopson, a young white man, is held on theft charges after allegedly breaking into C. V. Merritt’s Pier home two weeks ago. The Merritt family found valuables missing and later recovered some items from people who claimed to have bought them from Hopson. A vagrancy warrant was withdrawn as evidence mounted, and Wake County officers plan to take him into custody.

Ruth Radcliffe aged sixteen died at her father’s home in East Durham at 4 30 p m on Wednesday after a three week illness from typhoid fever She is survived by her father and mother a brother and a sister The burial was held Tuesday afternoon.
