Harry Fidler, Duncan barber, installs a $300 pool table in his shop to offer pastime for customers. The table was bought through Cashier Lanneau and the space is being expanded by 10 feet to accommodate the pool room. The shop will stay open at all hours and further improvements may follow.
Rev J W Aker county school superintendent from Clifton purchased land from J K Bullard in Duncan to build a home. He will assume charge of the M E Church here, swapping with Rev J L Young. The move follows his family’s health reasons and Duncan extends a warm welcome.
The Duncan school year ends with strong attendance and growing interest. Prof Clarence Wiggs led as superintendent with Miss Mattie Purser in the intermediate and Miss Helen Fisher in the primary grades. Wiggs and Purser are re employed for next year, Fisher not applying.
Reports from Juarez describe skirmishing with several killed and many wounded, including Americans. General Madero failed to control his forces as Insurrectos led by Canadian W. H. McKenzie launched the attack.

The district has grown and will employ four teachers next year to handle expanded classes.

Denver May 6 No selection was made by the joint assembly for a United States senator after seven ballots tonight. The legislature adjourned with Colorado to be represented for two years by only one senator who is a Republican.

Inez Clay of Duncan has achieved perfect attendance for five years since entering school five years ago. Daughter of Mr and Mrs John Clay, she has never missed a day nor been tardy and is described as a bright, industrious, and ambitious pupil.
In a humorous incident at court Blas Siri ana appeared in court in shirt sleeves after claiming his coat was at home. The judge ordered him to buy a “Witness coat” sized to fit all, to be charged to the county, and kept ready for life and title thereafter.
