Former Federal Farm Board head Allexander Legge argues farmers must self-help through cooperation. He cites walnut growers and urges collective bargaining and mass distribution to give farmers a fair share of prices without raising consumer costs.
Advice on pasteurized sweet cream butter making with precise temperatures and times for pasteurization and churning. Also discusses dairy cow feeding, balancing roughage and grain, cow condition for economical production, and future milk yield targets based on breed.
A Midview Xour correspondent visited Boundry Utah and noted alfalfa hay handling. Lee Powell and Mt Emmong home missionaries attended sacrament meeting. Warren Luser, formerly of Midview, is in town on business. Floyd Smith, home from Roosevelt High School for the summer, works with pigs and potatoes. A Friday dance by the amusement committee drew good attendance. Mr and Mrs C V Smith attended Mrs Rose Workman’s funeral in Salt Lake.
Myton nine remains undefeated in the Mutual Teague as Bennett team fails to appear for the third game in Myton. The next game is in Bryton at Leota on the 23rd. A Myton delegation then traveled to Mt. Emmons where Myton fell 7-10. A return game with Arcadia may be arranged in Myton this Sunday. Mt. Emmons will also play their return in Myton on the 8th.
The Ladies Aid Society schedules three events on Wednesday evening May 27 including The Fashion Show The Wedding of the Painted Doll and a Minstrel Show by the Coonville Culture Club. Public invited.

The Board of Education of Duchesne County School District will receive bids at its office in Duchesne Utah until 12 oclock noon June 2 1931 to furnish and equip motor vehicles in good working condition and suitably sized and protected to transport children on routes including Duchesne Strawberry Duchesne Juanita Duchesne Antelope Duchesne Midview Duchesne Arcadia Myton Antelope Myton Midview Myton Arcadia Myton Stratford Roosevelt Alyton Roosevelt Highland Roosevelt Apaloo Roosevelt Dry Gulch Roosevelt Cove and related routes.
County Assessor C. W. Smith reports 1931 tax valuations for Duchesne Myton and Roosevelt show a large drop from 1930. Grand total for Duchesne County falls from 5,207,004 to 4,877,088 with a decrease of 329,916. Assessed by county 4,085,007 and by state 192,081. There are 1131 cars in the county valued at 120,591.00.
James Thomas Sharkey of Dorchester Massachusetts won the $25,000 first prize in the nationwide $50,000 contest promoting the new measure proof cellophane wrapper on Camel cigarette packages. Second prize went to Mrs Walter Sweet with $10,000. third to Julius M Nolte of Duluth Minnesota with $5,000. Thirty eight prizes were awarded overall including five at $1,000 and twenty five at $100.
New York reports a method to control mosquitoes by applying fuel oil or similar agents on stagnant water. The oil forms a surface film that blocks larval air access while delivering toxic substances to kill larvae.
Mr and Mrs Samuel E McClelland announce the marriage of their daughter Lula to Calvin Croft of Provo Utah on May 22 1931 in the Salt Lake Temple Lula McClelland taught at Duchesne School the past two years and Mr Croft taught the past year They plan a honeymoon to Oregon and Washington then Croft attends summer school at Utah Agricultural College
The Camel cigarette contest awarded first prize of 25000 to James Thomas Sharkey a 32 year old milkman from Boston second prize of 10000 went to Mrs Walter Sweet a Marine Corps captain wife from Brooklyn and third prize of 6000 to Julius M Nolte a Duluth real estate dealer Also five prizes of 1000 five prizes of 500 and twenty five prizes of 100 were awarded The three winners will visit Winston Salem North Carolina to receive their checks.

Mrs Ruby McDonald and Mrs Burnice McDonald visited a dentist in Duchesne Monday. Agnes Kenison visited Mrs Elma Mayhew Thursday. Edna Rust returned from Duchesne Friday after spending winter at high school. Brigham Thompson of Duchesne visiting John W Davies Rodney Moulton showing a new truck.
Stockmen in Duchesne County are advised that local merchants stock iodized sheep salt and steam bone meal. A recommended mix of 76 parts iodized salt to 25 parts steam bone meal addresses chewing problems in dairy cows and cattle. Local merchants will supply the materials and place a suitable salt box for daily access.
Dr J J Durrett chief of drug control FDA warns that no toothpaste or mouthwash can cure pyorrhea. He notes claims are based on test tube experiments not real mouth conditions and urges relying on label statements over ads.
