Henry County residents read that John Heard Saxon was named tax collector for Houston to succeed W B Jeffries. Governor Bibb Graves announced the appointment and Saxon will serve the unexpired term ending October 1 1931. Seven men and one woman have qualified for the special race.

Injured Teen Edward Barnes in Motorcycle Crash

Birmingham Girl Denied Parole in Taxi Theft Case
Billie Lane of Birmingham was denied parole by Gov. Bibb Graves after a parole board recommendation.
