Flogging incidents rise to nineteen in Jacksonville

Police report 19 people whipped by a mob in Jacksonville Florida as three more flogging cases were confirmed. Victims’ identities and exact locations were not released, but five were noted yesterday and ten previously, with authorities expanding searches and convening the grand jury for an investigation.

Bracketed Brocton Girl Killed by Truck on Highway

New Brocton October 25 a seven year old girl Fwel Carmichael daughter of Mrs Etta Carmichael of New Brocton was killed instantly when struck by a truck on the Montgomery Dothan highway near here. The driver H Culpepper of Montgomery was exonerated of blame after witnesses said the girl darted from a wagon. The child suffered a fractured skull and broken neck. Funeral was to be held here this afternoon. She is survived by her mother a sister Ruth and a brother.

Abbeville Man Given 18 Month Federal Prison Term

Abbeville resident Charles B. Hays age 18 was sentenced by Judge Kennamer to 18 months in the Chillicothe Ohio reformatory for alleged mail embezzlement at the Abbeville post office. Indicted in Montgomery last August he pleaded guilty before sentencing while in county jail awaiting transport.

Cane Patch Owner Is Held In Jail

Dalla Enfinger, charged with shooting Mr and Mrs Newman in a cane patch near Keyton Siding on Saturday night, was arrested Monday and jailed in default of 250 bond on assault with intent to murder. Mrs Newman remained seriously ill at home. her husband was shot in the leg. The couple said they stopped to cut two stalks of cane to chew.

Births Surpass Deaths in Alabama for August

Montgomery report shows 5413 births versus 2135 deaths in August. Heart disease claimed 260 lives, with 14 personal crises and 45 homicides. Typhoid fatalities numbered 13, while accidental deaths fell slightly. auto fatalities eased from 23.2 to 17.4 percent, as Dr. W. T. Fales notes fewer cars on the roads.

Two of Four Bank Robbers Caught in Wisconsin

Two of four robbers were captured after gun battles spanning Mindoro and Jackson counties. The first clash occurred at Mindoro and the final shootout happened in Jackson County where the suspects were wounded and captured. Berlin October 25 Opera singer Miss Pander Stee, aged 32, was shot by her banker husband who then tried to kill himself. He survived and later faced questioning as police reported the couple had a troubled marriage. The singer’s stage career had spanned many prominent European venues.

10000 Ton Cruiser To Be Built By U S Navy
