Approx 85 percent of Houston County money crops have been harvested with minimal losses to peanut and cotton acreage. County Agent C M Ling says farmers are now planting winter cover crops and about 18,500 bales of cotton were gathered from roughly 35,000 acres at an average yield near 3,000 pounds per acre. Peanuts show good grade in favorable weather. sweet potatoes enter markets but demand and prices remain weak. Farmers urged to store potatoes until spring when prices are expected to rebound.
