Packed house last night praised the mid week feature play Her Companionate Marriage. Cast members delivered diverse roles with four strong comedy parts ensuring laughter and a good time for all in Dothan. Tonight the Tolbert show repeats the production and promises a show worth missing.
Coach Paul Tubb could not field full squad as several varsity players were sick or injured before the Hartford game. Mauston Oneal hurt, Fred Brown ill for two weeks, Jap Hart’s grandfather died, Ed Owens injured fingers. Hartford arrives with a strong team and a large Hartford delegation will attend the opener at the new stadium.
Pitcairn Aviation Inc announced plans to establish passenger air service to the South starting next spring and later operate from New York to Miami. Tri motor planes with 12 passenger capacity will run on a regular schedule, beginning with a 307 mile link between Atlanta and Greensboro, N C, then expanding north and south links.
Thirteen year old Bernard Ricker of Washington finds a large sack of mail dropped from the Graf Zeppelin as it passed over Washington on Monday. None of the mail was addressed to Washington and Postmaster C B Mooney forwarded it. Authorities believe the bag was toppled here by mistake and it fell on a school ground.
New York actor John Cromwell of Gentlemen of the Press plans to marry and direct motion pictures in Hollywood. His bride Kay Johnson hopes to continue stage and film work after their marriage in Stony Creek Connecticut.
Funeral services for William Jas per Burkett 68 longtime Houston county planter and businessman were held at Pleasant Hill church with Rev J C Parrish officiating. He leaves widow Emma, seven daughters and three sons, plus five brothers. Pallbearers included A W McEachern G V McLendon M F Owens J T Knight Warren Mercer and Judge Meadows.
W M Jerkins aged 80 died Monday night after being struck by an automobile Friday night while crossing the highway in front of his Round Lake Florida home. He was a former Dothan city council member and an active satsuma developer. Survived by his wife and four children including Marcel lus Jerkins of Chipley George Jerkins of Hartford and two daughters Mrs Pink Strickland and Mrs Willie Carroll.
Bombs exploded in scattered Chicago areas breaking the city’s calm. Three blasts targeted fire and battery shops as police investigated possible labor racketeering influence.
Dr. H. C. Bass announces a baptismal service at First Baptist Church tonight after prayer services. Twenty eight candidates from the recent revival will be baptized following the prayers.
English aviator Commander H. C. McDonald flies a Moth type aircraft from Harbor Grace in Newfoundland toward England in an attempt to cross the Atlantic solo.
A bronze statue of Joseph E. Brown governor of Georgia was unveiled on the state capitol grounds in Atlanta with an official ceremony. Joseph M. Brown son of the governor and a former governor presented the statue which Governor Hardman accepted for the state and Mayor Ragsdale for the city. The sculpture by Italian artist Guiseppi Moretti.
The Eagle newspaper route in Headland expanded from 13 to 100 subscribers in about a month. A carrier team led by Joe and John Phillips signed up 45 new subscribers the day the paper began delivery, with many local residents listed by name as subscribers.
Funeral services held for 73 year old Mrs. Lilie Grist Walker who died at home on North Lena street after a short illness. Interment followed in Columbia Cemetery beside her husband and two children. She was longtime librarian and a former member of the Episcopal Church. Survivors include two sons Ward and Saxon, a granddaughter Eulalia, a brother W. J. Grist, and a sister Carrie Shaw.
A weather bulletin notes showers across Alabama tonight with possible showers continuing into Thursday morning in the extreme center and northern portions. Expect moderate south winds as conditions shift.

Verdigre Nebraska reports a country school dynamited. Two children were injured and hospitalized after dynamite planted in the schoolhouse store exploded as children had gone outside to play. No motive offered by teachers or trustees.
