French Steaks Scarce In Europe Yet Abundant Food In France

Prof. John J. Roe of Alabama Polytechnic Institute reports from Europe that fresh beef in France is scarce and inferior to U.S. meat while mutton, ham, rabbits and snails fill the diet. He notes France supports itself agriculturally with snail farming, cheese, and vineyard products near Paris and within 25 to 30 miles of the city. He describes large track gardens near the capital, extensive wheat fields, heavy cheese production, rare milk drinking, and Burgundian wines from local grapes.

Jewish Friday Services At Temple Emanu-El Held

Regular Friday night services were held at the Jewish Community Center with a large audience. Sam Blumenfeld led the service and sermons focused on the Ten Commandments. Committees were appointed for the coming year and regular Sunday school classes resumed at the Jewish Community Center under Mrs. Kraselsky and Mrs. Blumenfeld.
