Miss Capps Hosts Enterprise Club Meeting

The Lo-Z Club gathered at Miss Betty Capps home on Tuesday night with Miss Hildred West reading the program. West reviewed the first chapter of this year’s study book as the group enjoyed social hour treats of sandwiches candy and cake.

Clubs Announce Meeting Dates in Local Notices

The New Century Club will meet at 3 00 p m Tuesday at Mrs W T Burkett home. At 8 00 p m Tuesday the Business and Professional Women's Club will meet at Houston Memorial Library to hear lectures by Guy Hardwick and Alto V Lee III on the equal rights amendment. Wednesday includes Book Review Club at Mrs Harvey McBryde home. Fine Arts Club hosts at 2 00 p m at Mrs J P Shealy home with co hostess Mrs James Dees.

Miss Reeder Hosts Junior Pierian Club Program

Miss Mary Alice Paulk hosted the Junior Pierian Club on Wednesday afternoon. Miss Delma Reeder reviewed Swan Song and the Girls Ensemble of the high school sang Drink to Me Only With Thine Eyes. Miss Nixon from the high school faculty attended as guest. Reports from the Sixth District Federation meeting were given by Mary Alice Faulk and Judy Bates. Mrs Jack Johnson of Geneva was admitted today to a local hospital for medical treatment.

Betty Jean Smith Hosts Y W A Meeting

The Barbara Wilson Y W A of Southside Baptist Church met Thursday at Betty Jean Smith home with Jean Dykes giving the devotional. Participants included Marjorie Murrell Jewel Caulcy and Betty Jean Smith. Mrs Fred Dykes led prayer. Lottie Moon book reviewed by Jean Dykes. Plans made for a stewardship play. Refreshments were served by the hostess.

Queen To Wear Apricot Lame Gown For Daughter's Wedding

London reports Queen Elizabeth II will wear an apricot lame gown for Princess Elizabeth Mountbatten’s wedding on November 20. The ensemble features a V waist with brocade bands, long sleeves, a pointed train, and a blue Order of the Garter sash. A hip length cape and an apricot hat with amber feathers are also planned. Spectators will be kept back by a police cordon due to paper shortages and lack of wedding souvenirs.
