Houston Tomato Prospects Bright for 1947
County Agent C. M. Ling says Houston County tomato crop looks good with little blight this season. Late plantings due to cold weather and a late spring push back harvesting to mid June, while acreage drops about 25 percent from last year. Early Florida plants and copper spray aid disease control, but heavy rains or late blight could cut output. Ashford market open mid June with limited local volume until June 10 to 15.
