Tuscaloosa News Sold and New Manager Named

The Tuscaloosa Newspaper Publishing Co has sold The Tuscaloosa News to General Newspapers Inc. Buford Boone editor of the Macon Telegraph was named general manager. He is 29 and a Mercer graduate who worked with Macon papers except for WWII FBI service. Bruce Shelton publisher of The News will move to new duties. Circulation figures list 10,674 daily and 10,820 Sunday.

Ford's Production Is Claimed Normal

Detroit AP report says Ford Motor Co continued operations with a strike reduced supervisor staff after 3900 union foremen walked out. Company spokesmen said production returned to normal levels for the second straight day and offered no forecast for the future. Foreman union questions management’s ability to meet schedules amid the contract dispute.

Deadline Extended For Army Reserves Recruitment

Local recruiters announced the enlistment deadline for the Enlisted Reserve Corps has been extended to June 30. Members won not be called to active duty except by request or in a national emergency, and rank at separation can be retained in the reserve. A regulation guarantees 5 percent extra pay for three-year longevity periods accrued in the reserve if called to active duty.

The Ben Lane Amateur Radio Club of Dothan hosts a ham fest starting at 10 a.m. Sunday with about 100 amateurs from Georgia Florida and Alabama expected. Skipperville Man Held On Liquor Laws Violation

John E. Barntine of Skipperville Route One was arrested in Dale County for involvement with an illegal whiskey distillery seized May 19. A Barntine truck was seized at the time. Barntine waived preliminary hearing and posted $300 bond pending Federal Grand Jury action. Three men and one car had been seized in the same case.

Four residents of Houston County will receive degrees from Alabama Polytechnic Institute at spring quarter end. Graduation exercises in Auburn on June 6 feature a talk by Dr. M. C. Mrs. Robert L. Adams Dies Near Headland

Mrs. Robert L. Adams died at her Headland home early today after a long illness. She was sixty and had led the community for 23 years, a Union Baptist Church member. Funeral at Pleasant Plains Church Saturday at 4 p.m. with Rev. H. E. Craughon officiating. burial in the church cemetery. Survived by husband, six daughters including Mrs. A. J. Milam and Miss Ruth Adams, all of Columbus, Ga., three daughters in Georgia, five sons, three sisters, a brother, and eight grandchildren. Active pallbearers named.

Nineteen officials will oversee money flow to Greece and seek United States gains. Army Flying Fortress Crashes Near Alambamba Nicaragua

Reports indicate a U S Army flying fortress on a route from the Canal Zone to Kelly Field Texas with 15 aboard crashed 60 miles northwest of Alambamba on the Tungla River. Seven who bailed out reached Alambamba after a one half hour trek. the fate of the others was unknown.
