A Sunday night fire destroyed the J. J. Daring Grain and Elevator Co. facility at 428 Railroad Ave. with an estimated loss near 25000, about half covered by insurance. Monroe county authorities questioned a lunch room operator M Dp Ramsey of Monroeville in the May 8 death of Lois Hardy 16. Rudolph Saren 18 was arrested a week after the death and will be arraigned before Judge M M Fountain in Monroeville. The hearing was postponed at the solicitor's request to review new evidence. The girl left home with Ramsey and his wife on May 9 and was later reported dead after an alleged ride in Saren's car.

Cyclone Kills Couple as Son Is Injured Near Midland City

A cyclone struck a mile east of Midland City on Monday noon killing Mr. and Mrs. Hewey Conrey and injuring their three year old son Hewey Jr. The storm leveled the Conrey home and three barns, carried the family 150 yards, and damaged nearby farms. The child was hospitalized in serious condition. Telephones and lines were down, hindering rescue efforts.
