Sales Tax Tokens For Crippled Children Now Total 14000
Montgomery Alabama Special Commander James A Lane of the Alabama Department American Legion announced today that collection of sales tax tokens totaled about 14000 all to be given to the Crippled Children Clinic in Birmingham. He urged Posts to send collections to Department Headquarters in Montgomery before March 3 the deadline for redemption. Lane presented a 10800 check to Harris Burt president of the clinic at the New Year Dixie Bowl game in Birmingham. The rest will be turned over to the Clinic after token counting and the Legion receives the final check. The project honors the Crippled Children Clinic and Child Welfare aims of the Legion. Art Greenwood originated the token redemption idea with the Legion handling the collection with schoolchildren and others.
