Mrs Ridley Carroll Howell eighty died at her home 228 West Crawford Street early Sunday morning after a long illness. She lived in Dothan and Houston County for 70 years and was a Selma Church member. Surviving include two daughters Dora Pearson and Fannie Maddox, three sons T G Howell Jess Howell Bill Howell, a brother F C Carroll, two sisters, and two grandchildren. Funeral 4 p m today at Selma Church with Dr H A Parker, burial in Selma Cemetery. Ward Wilson in charge. Pallbearers named.
Mrs Ida Davis age 77 died at her Cowarts home after a weeklong illness. She lived in Cowarts 15 years and belonged to Beulah Baptist Church. Survived by three sisters Florence Jordan Ashford Mattie Edmondson Midland City Cora Payne Ashford and a brother Harvey Woodham Headland. Funeral at 1 a.m. Tuesday Beulah Church Rev W G Dean officiating burial in Beulah Cemetery. Ward-Wilson in charge. Active pallbearers listed. Honorary pallbearers listed.

About 300 high school seniors from across Alabama will attend the 11th annual Boys State at the University of Alabama June 5 to 11. The event, sponsored by the American Legion, will focus on city and county government functions with two top delegates spending a week in Washington. Walter Knabe will chair the program with Prof. York Willburn aiding in organizing the seven-day conference.
