Plane Used To Lay Telephone Wire
A fast flying cargo plane demonstrated a new method to lay telephone wire by hauling modules of wire that unwind like balls of yarn. The test over the Great Smoky Mountains in North Carolina and Tennessee involved a crew of two per module and required a pilot, co-pilot, and two crewmen. Experiments were conducted by the Air Technical Service Command at Robins Field, Macon, in cooperation with Hell Telephone laboratories.

Oscar Montgomery, a Dothan man of Blackshear street, was ordered held without bail at a preliminary hearing before Judge Saxon P. Poyner on an assault charge involving his 10 year old step-daughter Elizabeth Thomas. Police testified they found an open knife on Montgomery as he was taken into custody after a step-daughter alerted officers. The girl said Montgomery attacked her multiple times since September of last year. He claimed the knife was for corns on his feet.
