The Bronze Star Medal with V device was awarded posthumously to Maj. William H. Frazier Jr. for heroic action near Yongsan, Korea on Sept. 16, 1950. Notification reached widow Mrs. Jape E. Frazier of Tacoma Washington. Frazier, 33, led as battalion commander with the Ninth Infantry, Second Division. He entered service in 1940 and served 38 months overseas during World War II and the Korean War. He was wounded Sept. 27, hospitalized in Japan, returned to Korea on Nov. 1, 1950, and died in November while in service. He is survived by wife, father, and son.

A trailer truck loaded with Preci fic oranges caught fire between Ashford and Pansey last night destroying most of the cargo. Ashford firemen emptied a 300 gallon tank of water, halted the blaze after refilling, and the tractor was detached from the 28 foot enclosed trailer. The truck’s owner and driver were not identified. the load was bound for Iowa.
The interim committee on revision of laws recommended a bill to let county governing bodies provide optional training in crime detection and investigation for county coroners. Sponsored by Rep. Arthur Fite of Walker County, the plan would have coroners train under state toxicologist Dr. J. Rehling at Auburn, noting counties currently cannot authorize such instruction.
Maj George Shara of Headquarters Company, Third Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, received the Silver Star for leading a counterattack and directing infantry and tanks under heavy fire near the battalion sector in Korea.
