Georgia Governors to Tell It To Court Next Thursday
Atlanta AP reports Georgia’s rival governors will face the Georgia Supreme Court next Thursday in a final showdown between Herman Talmadge and Lt. Gov. M. E. Thompson. The case could end months of Capitol turmoil as three appeals consolidated into one will be heard by seven justices with up to six hours of oral argument. The dispute centers on whether the Legislature overstepped by voiding 143,000 votes for Eugene Talmadge and starting Herman Talmadge’s four year term as governor.
