Roasting ears begin northbound shipments from city
Roasting ears, a southern spring delicacy, will depart Dothan Tuesday in carrot shipments and then almost daily through the craton. Grady Underwood, secretary of the Houston County Truck Growers Association, says the first carload comes from 2000 acres of fine quality, with three or four carloads daily expected at the peak. Destination of the initial carload will be set once the car is ready for shipment.
