OPA Head Blames Lobbies Not Public For Inflation Moves
In an Eagle Washington interview series, Price Administrator Prenting M. Brown argues consumer groups lack a voice outside labor unions supporting price fixing. He contends most of the public remains quiet about OPA, aside from labor-related protests over rationing and cost containment.

Price control and morale in the OPA amid opposition
The article reports on OPA morale after the Hold the Line order, noting improved mood in June due to testimony before the House Appropriations Committee and broad support from Republicans like Taber and Ditter. It highlights Brown’s view that pressure groups drive opposition to price and rationing rules, with self interest as the main obstacle to stabilization. Brown defends OPA against claims of meddling in business and argues standards aid price alignment with production needs amid ongoing controls on steel, metals, and war materials.
