Field trial shows potential for better upland pastures
Wilson cited field results indicating good improved pastures in uplands. Five years after liming one ton per acre and applying 500 pounds of phosphate and 100 pounds of potash, yearly additions of 200 to 300 pounds phosphate were made. Dairy cattle grazed at 1 1/2 animals per acre six to eight months. A three year rotation of hogged peanuts, dug peanuts, lupine, and corn proved a safe, effective set building system.
