Japan Plans Export of Cotton Textiles Next Month

TOKYO AP Japan will export 50 million yards of stockpiled cotton fabrics next month at prices matching Britain and the United States. An additional 35 million yards will be ready the following month. Goods will go only to the Orient and southwest Pacific. Cotton imports from the United States reach 22 000 bales weekly, boosting production to 65 million yards by September, with at least 50 million yards earmarked for export. Before the war Japan shipped 2.5 billion yards annually, but recent entrants to world markets and wartime U S producers likely prevent restoration of prewar supremacy.
