Birmingham July 4 AP The Heflin and Locke independents rally across Alabama as they form in opposition to the Democratic exclusion. They expect no nominations today but plan to endorse their ticket at a later meeting while discussing a broader opposition to the Democratic slate in the November election.

Clanton Youth Killed In Automobile Wreck

Cato Roebuck age 18 died when the car carrying him and companions overturned on the Elmo Clanton highway south of Clanton Alabama. Four other occupants including Roebuck’s brother escaped with slight injuries. Funeral services planned with burial in the family cemetery.

Wife of General Wilkinson Dies in Prattville

Eugenia Gaston Wilkinson 47 wife of General J E Wilkinson commander of the first brigade Alabama division United Confederate veterans died at their Prattville home after illness begun June 3 during the Biloxi Confederate veterans reunion. Survived by two sons Dr Geo Wilkinson Birmingham and Dr J E Wilkinson Jr Prattville. two daughters Mrs Hatter Brown Birmingham and Mrs W W Moss Auburn. Funeral at home tomorrow 10 AM with burial in Prattville Willie cemetery.

Washington July 4 AP The new veterans relief law provides pensions for World War service members disabled since discharge. Pensions range from 12 to 40 dollars monthly by disability degree with a 60 dollar cap as restored by conferees. Taxpaying veterans are ineligible. Hoover urged keeping house levels. Conferees faced opposition from some senators and independents.
