Private relief groups aid, caution guides gift donations
An article on the American Friends Service Committee shows private aid groups error and caution in gifts. It notes relief spending of about 60 million dollars over three years, with donations ranging from belts to grain. Overhead runs under ten percent, while six percent funds foreign programs. The piece mentions gifts including a Percheron stallion and a drunken pig, illustrating challenges in matching gifts with needs. It also highlights textile and clothing donations, orchestra attire, and 100,000 Boy Scout outfits to be distributed abroad, all supporting European and Asian relief.
