Hart youth Dorriety dies after hospital appendix

Dorriety 18 of Hart, a student at city schools and member of a local church, died last night after an appendix operation at a hospital. He is survived by parents W. H. Dorriety and five sisters and five brothers. Funeral and burial at Pondtown church with Rev. A Cozart officiating. Active pallbearers named.

Court Sets Sale of Dale Mills to Satisfy Debts

A bankruptcy court ordered the Dale cotton mills at Ozark sold at noon February 1 to satisfy liens totaling about 110000. Government processing taxes of 18000 are included. Sealed bids with 10 percent certified funds are due to trustee M H Harper. Bruno Hauptmann sharpened his defense as prosecutors pressed his claimed innocence in the Lindbergh baby case. While the trial paused for a recess Hauptmann’s stock trading records were examined to explain his wealth after the $50,000 ransom. Brains of Counterfeit Ring Nabbed in Mobile

Federal authorities say the alleged mastermind of a counterfeit operation placed spurious coins in circulation last month and was captured in Mobile with a plaster cast mold. A warrant issued by a treasury investigator led to the arrest of the suspect, a local Negro, whose name was not released. Half a dozen other local Negroes were also arrested on passing counterfeit money.

Peanut acreage reduction contracts extended in Houston county

Farm agent C. M. Ling announced that no further peanut acreage reduction contracts would be made at Beal headquarters. Farmers may sign agreements in Ling's office at the courthouse until February 1.

Bloodhounds Hunt White Killer Robber Near Benton

Saline county officers with bloodhounds hunted an unidentified white man who slashed the throats of two spinsters near Benton, robbed them of 175 dollars, and set their home on fire. Miss Fannie Orr Sr. crawled a quarter mile to summon help after dragging her sister, Miss Louisa Orr, from the blaze. The elder sister is in critical condition with a washed throat and skull injuries.

Washington reports President Roosevelt will directly administer the four billion dollar work relief fund with an advisory group likely of cabinet officers or technical experts. Retired Navy Commander Dies in Bremerton

Admiral Robert E. Coontz, a former commander in chief of the U S fleet and wartime operations chief, died in Bremerton Washington after a heart attack. He was born 1864 in Hannibal Missouri and graduated from the Naval Academy. He served to 1928 when retired and spent years shaping an American navy second to none.
