No Big Changes In Football Rules Hovater Reports
Dothan High coach and AHSAA official Jack Hovater reports the National Federation rules committee kept high school football rules nearly the same for 1947 with only a holding penalty increase to 1 yard on defense and a clarifying rule on free substitutions. Delegates from Alabama and 46 states met in St Petersburg Florida to review rules and film plays for later showing to member schools. The meeting also discussed forming Alabama baseball leagues and convention highlights.
