Fire damages Abbeville lumber yard. $10,000 loss reported

A blaze at the W. C. ison Lumber company yards in Abbeville caused about $10,000 damage. Eight stacks burned and roughly 200 stacks damaged as burning shavings blew onto the lumber. Nearby departments including Dothan aided. insurance covered the loss.

Dothan Man Confesses Ice Plant Burglary

Harper, a Dothan Negro, signed a statement admitting burglary at Ikner Ice Co. No. 2 on North 2nd Street. He stole $5 to $7 from the cash vault the night of December 20 and is jailed pending further charges and investigation.

Cigaret Machine Stolen From Service Station Front

A cigaret machine was stolen from in front of the Thirty-One Tire Station at Crasford and S. Oates streets. It contained about $20 in cigarets and $2 in change. Police say the machine was carried away not entered into the building. no arrests yet, suspects being questioned.

Victim Guarded as Former Husband Sought in Attack

Olga Trapani Rocco, 28, lay critically injured after a brutal assault by her former husband Alfresco Rocco alias Alfonse Huceco. Police kept a patrol inside her hospital room while hunting the suspect, described as dangerous and elusive, with clues including a gray tweed coat and a key. Plane Crashes in Nashville Injuring Eight and Vaudeville Troupe

A DC-3 two motor liner crash in fog near Nashville injured eight people including members of a vaudeville troupe led by John Calvert.
