Hungry prowlers target town residents in Alabama and Georgia
Two hungry prowlers accosted a keeper and housewife in Cr of food, county officers stated. A man entered a filling station and mercantile store in Cowarts with pockets full of food, fled, and was last seen hitchhiking near Ashford heading toward Georgia. Later, a prowler approached Mrs. Jack’s home eight miles west of Enterprise and Snell's store. she fired at him after he showed a pistol, and he fled, with sheriff’s officers investigating.

Claude T. Cotton, state income tax examiner, will be in his office on the second floor of the courthouse from 8 a m to 5 p m Mondays through Fridays until Mar 15 to aid Houston County taxpayers in filing state income tax returns. The deadline is Mar 1, same as for federal. Individuals must file for income from salaries wages interest rents business or professional income of 1500 or more single or 3000 or more married and living with husband or wife. Partnerships must file regardless of income. Exemptions: 1500 for single or married not living with spouse. 3000 head of a family. 3000 joint return if both spouses file jointly. 2000 if separate returns may be claimed by either or divided. A three month old puppy owned by J B Brown of Shorterville bit five people before dying. The dog was unvaccinated and rabies infected, confirmed by Mrs Aime Cooper of the Dothan Brain Laboratory.
