Thomas Drake Samford 78 son of former Alabama Governor died in Opelika. Funeral set for 3 p m at First Methodist Church Opelika. He led Alabama practice as a prominent attorney and long served as U S District Attorney in Montgomery. He chaired the Alabama Polytechnic Institute board of trustees and was active in the Methodist church. Survived by brothers Richard and Walter and three sisters.
