Selective Service Moves 2-C Deferments Toward End
The draft agency announces that farm deferments under the Tydings Amendment will be phased out as crop goals rise and manpower tightens. Local boards will process 2-C registrants in order, with 2-C-allowed cases reviewed or reopened, then moving to 3-C for those with dependents. The plan aims to curb non-father farm deferments while maintaining essential agricultural labor.
