Extension Classes Start Here Friday at Dothan School

Mrs Pearl Brandon Crawford of Montevallo will open a series of classes at the Dothan school building Friday. The classes will last for 15 weeks with one held each week. Mr Crawford conducted several sessions on parent education here.

Prisoners Arrive to Testify as Houston Grand Jury Probes Arson

Five men sentenced last summer on arson charges arrived by prison truck from Elsby to testify before the Houston county grand jury now meeting since Monday. Also expected is Minnie Lee Childs who refused to testify earlier, while state fire marshals Searcy and West sit as witnesses. Many suspected incendiary fires have been reported in the area over the past six months.

About 2 000 unemployed men women and children camped in county and city buildings overnight in Seattle demanding relief. They sought groceries per family per week work pay or gasoline and cash for a pilgrimage to Olympia. When denied they occupied the office building and sent out committees for food.

Flour arrives for county needy in two more carloads

Two more carloads of flour reached Hougton County destitute families per H H Brown of the Red Cross. One load was unloaded yesterday and the other today. Applications will be accepted only on Tuesday Thursday and Saturday between 9 PM and 3 PM at the old Eagle building on Troy street due to limited staff.

United Air Lines begins delivery of 60 all metal low wing Boeing transport aircraft with retractable landing gear. The jets add about 20 mph to speed for 10 passenger cargo air service. Three warning devices prevent wheels from retracting in flight and an indicator aids pilots during gear operations.
