The House Ways and Means committee voted to repeal the two cent bank check stamp tax effective January 1, 135. The proposal was part of a new revenue bill with Treasury estimates of 235 million dollars in annual revenue from the tax in its current form. The tax would not expire until July 1, 135 and yielded about 38 million in 133. The panel also backed giving the President power to cut first class mail rates while allowing second class rates for newspapers magazines and advertising to revert to pre 1932 levels.

Eighty one thousand six hundred seventeen parasites removed from rats trapped in the city since last March were shipped to the National Institute of Health in Washington. Of these parasites 49530 were fleas 20418 mites and 11699 lice from 7736 rats averaging ten fleas four mites and two lice per rodent. The Brille’s Fever Survey in Dothan notes a 33 centimeter longest rat and a 25 inch total length with one albino rat among catches and six rabbits a weasel and a skunk among victims.
