Washington disposable analysis notes President Roosevelt plans a new national emergency council to coordinate all relief and recovery agencies. Frank Walker heads the body to hold influence over insiders’ disputes between liberals and conservatives in the NRA AAA and related programs.
A log truck that reportedly veered out of control plowed down a hill and rammed a parked auto on the Bellwood and Clayhat chie road, injuring two Dothan men, one seriously. W. O. Williams, 43, suffered internal injuries and possible broken back. D. F. Odom and Glenn Moseley escaped with minor injuries. the truck driver, a Negro, was uninjured. The crash occurred about 10 o'clock near Flowing Well and caused extensive damage to both vehicles.
The Houston county board of health will meet next Friday at 7 p m to examine afflicted persons seeking exemptions from licenses and taxes because of their physical condition. The examination, an annual affair, will be held in the health department at the courthouse.
The Houston County grand jury, famous for last summer’s statewide impact by recommending no arrests for 3.2 beer sales, reconvenes Monday morning in a clean-up term. Most cases are minor. charges will be formalized before year’s end.
Deputies surprised Frank Brogden at his home near the airport and placed him in jail on charges of violating the prohibition law and transporting liquor. Brogden had evaded officers for two months after a traffic stop yielded several gallons of liquor. The other occupant was arrested days earlier.
In Peoria on December 9 1950 Mrs Mellise Riflye aged 78 died after being scratched by a rooster she attempted to catch for Thanksgiving. Doctors attributed the death to an infection from the scratch raising concern over domestic fowl injuries.
J C Willis and his brother Bob Willis are jailed on charges of receiving and concealing stolen property from the Jitney Jungle burglary last Monday night. Police seized liquor and 62 cartons of cigars at a tourist camp on the Ashford highway, with most cigars dated June matching the shop’s stock. Bail totals: Bob $600, his brother $390.
In Baton Rouge on December 27 a citizens special election is set to challenge the seating of Mrs. Bolivar Kemp as Sixth District congresswoman. Jared Randers, a junior state senator, leads the effort after charges the December primary was fraudulent and that Governor Allen and Senator Long influenced the nomination. Sanders qualified as the lone anti Long mover among those left out of the primary.
Alec Harris was arrested on a petty larceny charge after four shirts were stolen from Montgomery Ward & Co with the items found beneath his overcoat. Police report three tires were taken from a truck on Woodland Drive, and a turkey along with several chickens were stolen from a home on East North Street.
Civil Works Administrator Harry L. Hopkins said local officials delayed the 4 million man work effort aimed for December 15. A telegraphic poll showed 2.5 million employed, with most from relief rolls, and shortages of tools hinder progress. Hopkins urged faster state action and foresees $650 million in federal funds with possible congressional extension.
Colonel Luke Lea former United States Senator and his elder son Luke Lea Jr lose in Tennessee supreme court battle over extradition to North Carolina. The senior Lea was convicted over North Carolina banking laws and sentenced to six to ten years. his son to two to six years and a $25 000 fine.
In Milwaukee a juvenile court judge sought to compel a 16-year-old girl's mother to allow a surgical operation to restore mouth opening. The father had consented. the mother refused, claiming she would “show who was boss,” prompting the court action.

Washington December 9 The inter departmental committee formed by President Roosevelt to study alcoholic beverage taxation proposes a national plan to collect all federal revenues and divide them between the treasury states and sub divisions. I t suggests 20 percent of total federal receipts be returned to the states to avoid double taxation as part of a broader effort to end double taxation on other commodities.
Theodore Magidliver Camp of Memphis pleaded guilty in federal court to holding up interstate freight trucks in De Soto and Tate counties. Judge Cox will sentence him Monday. Co defendants James A.
