Ashford stadium wall draws questions on field work
The Ashford football stadium nears completion with night game potential if lights arrive. A sideways concrete block in the wall serves as a “window” for opponents, a point of local curiosity about the contentious field project amid ongoing charges against Houston County official Robert Meadows. Browns pitcher Carter stands out with 20 wins and two recent shutouts, a bright note for Dothan fans amid season talk.

Broken Leg May Sideline Auburn Star Tidwell This Season
Auburn prepares for football practice with a 55 man squad including 23 lettermen. Travis Tidwell, the 1946 freshman sensation, is doubtful due to a broken leg from 1947 baseball, likely delaying his availability until mid season. The returning group features captains, backs, ends, guards, and centers with new talents including Pelfrey and Emmert, while Gerald Naylor retires from football due to war injuries.
