Rural electric service extended to Alabama farms
REA funding expands rural electrification in Alabama with over $600,000 allocated in May July for new lines and materials. About 2 000 farms and rural establishments are to gain service under area coverage plans. Cooperatives urge farmers to join now to secure future connections and favorable rates based on cost. Members pay a $1 fee to receive service. Loans totaling over $15 million have financed 10 000 miles of lines serving 100 farm families and rural customers.
