Two Year Gap to Match Soviet Warplane Output
The World Aviation Annual reports Soviet capacity to produce 40 000 aircraft per year and about 1000 B 29 type bombers in 1948, while the U S plan targets 20 415 first line planes by mid 1950s with a 4000 a year rate to reach. It notes long production lags from ore to final assembly and emphasizes time as a critical constraint in rebuilding American air power.
