Miller Urges State Income Tax and Bonds

Governor B M Miller asked Alabama’s legislature to authorize constitutional amendments for an income tax and a $20 million bond issue to pay debts, fund schools, and balance the budget during a special session. Work paving new road to be done in winter months

The highway from Dothan to the Georgia line will be paved in winter when work is scarce under a Reconstruction Finance Corporation loan to relieve unemployment. Mayor I C Ezell said the project to start within 40 days aims to hire about 300 local men, with Dothan workers given priority. Contracts to pave to Alaga will not be let until September.
