Admiral Leigh Named Commander in Chief of U S Fleet

Admiral Richard H. Leigh, longtime submarine chaser commander in European waters, becomes the United States fleet’s chief. The four star flag was broken out aboard the U S S Pennsylvania at San Pedro California as he succeeds Admiral SchoField. Leigh, 62, a Grenada Mississippi native and Annapolis graduate of 1891, served in the Spanish American war Philippine campaign Cuban pacification and Boxer rebellion and was chief of staff to Admiral Sims in World War I. He holds the Distinguished Service Medal and decorations from Belgium and Britain.

School Students Build Three Place Biplane

Oklahoma City Central High School students built a three place biplane. Initial tests by a transport pilot deemed it stable and up to standard. The craft received official approval by the department of commerce while under construction and will be licensed.
