Houston Court Upheld in Two Decisions
The State Court of Appeals affirmed two Houston Circuit Court rulings convicting Carl B. Burkett of operating without a license and Wesley Phelps of second degree forgery. Burkett received a $150 fine in September last year for making bonds without a license. Phelps, sentenced in October 1946 to four years for second degree forgery, has appealed for probation with a hearing set for April 30.

Sponsorship Plans Set for James Orchestra in Dothan
A VFW called meeting at the Recreation Center completed plans to sponsor James Orchestra with the American Legion and the D A V. The band will perform April 30 at Napier Field to open the veterans club. Four VFW posts were appointed with Griggs as adjutant Seay officer of the day Cox and Hugo Griggs color bearers. Tickets go on sale tomorrow at multiple Dothan outlets.

Presbyterians Hold Spring Session Here
The East Alabama Presbytery held its Spring session at First Presbyterian Church in Do than with about 25 delegates. Rev Cecil B Lanter of Memorial Presbyterian Montgomery was elected moderator nominee to assume office in September. Allen Gardner Jr Montgomery was received as a candidate for the ministry and is a student at Auburn. Reports came in from 53 churches plus assembly and presbytery committees. Overtures asked for union with North Presbyterian Church and the Federal Council. Rev William K Blake Union Springs installed as home missions superintendent with sermon The Challenge of Home Missions in East Alabama. D E Wilkinson Troy gave the morning message and Wilds DuBose Montgomery gave the doctrinal sermon. Lord's Supper was observed and session closed with luncheon by the Women's Auxiliary.

Livestock arrivals at Alabama Georgia plants steady hog market
USDA livestock arrivals at eight major plants in Albany Columbus Moultrie Thomasville and other cities totaled 250 cattle 50 calves and 2000 hogs. Hog prices were mostly steady with medium to choice hogs over 180 lbs at 20 to 20.50. Prices for various weight ranges ranged from 11.00 to 20.50 per hundredweight with sows 16 to 18 dollars.

Man Wanted In City Held At Montgomery
Montgomery officers report the arrest of Jeff Lee Adair who admitted passing bad checks in Dothan and elsewhere. He confessed the checks in Montgomery, Tuscaloosa, Columbus Georgia and Dothan, and said the funds came from a Dothan lumber company.
