The Houston County Board of Revenue Let a painting contract for the county courthouse to 7 O Wooten of Opelike at about 3000 dollars. The board also approved buying a carload of corrected pipe for around 8000 dollars and 4000 dollars of steel for sage construction. Man Pleads Guilty To Interstate Auto Theft Here
Jack Pierce of Miami Florida pleaded guilty at a preliminary hearing here to transporting a stolen car in interstate commerce from Donalsonville Georgia to Gordon Alabama. U S Commissioner J W Daughtry reported Pierce waived indictment and planned to plead before U S District Judge C B Kennamer in Montgomery. Pierce and Lee Hudson were arrested on grand larceny charges for stealing a Wallace Bell car from Grangeburg. Deputy Sheriff Eldridge Cameron said both men confessed to the theft and Pierce said he took part in moving the car to Houston County.

Battisti aids 21 year old in crisis after yacht death
Uruguayan born Italian financier and author Amleto Battisti pledged aid to Misa Schmidt, a dancer, after a fatal shooting on a yacht. Schmidt said she feared Moe Mee intended to harm her and that she shot him in self defense. Autopsy results indicated Moe Mee was not shot while standing.
