Midland City Study Club Hosts Review Tea

Mrs Corbitt Benton and Mrs R Kelly of Midland City entertained the Midland City study club Wednesday afternoon at Bentons home. Low bowls of spring flowers adorned the reception room. Vice president Mrs A L Askew presided, and Mrs C P Evans read a book review. Refreshments were served during the closing social hour.

Young Adult Rally at Lafayette Street Church

About seventy five Methodist young adults from twelve Dothan district charges attended a district rally at Lafayette Street Methodist Church. Dr. S M Baker presided, Dr. Leo Rippy spoke on what young adults can do, and the group voted to give 118 to the Cuban church building fund with the next meeting set for May 8 at Foster Street Church.

Club Women Hold Business Meeting At Library

The Business and Professional Women's club met at the Library on Tuesday evening to discuss five bills for the May State Legislature including child labor law and jury duty for women plus cosmetics regulation. They voted a $25 donation to cancer control and appointed a nominating committee.

Woodbox On Wheels A Handy Homewood Improvement

Man jailed for alibi as thin as his hair

Bernard McDowell spent 30 days in jail after police testified he was staggering drunk with strong alcohol odor on his breath and a bottle of bay rum. McDowell claimed he wore bay rum on his head, but the judge was unconvinced.
