Circles of Headland Avenue Baptist W M S met yesterday in members homes for Royal Service programs followed by social hours with light refreshments. Anne Judson Circle hosted Mrs J M Stewart with 10 members and one new member Mrs Jack Peacock. Prayers and devotions were led by several members across circles, with Bible studies and reviews of mission books, and multiple visitors attended across circles.
The Business Women's Y W A of the First Baptist church held a supper meeting at the church last night. Miss Henrietta Burkett called the meeting to order and led a business session. Members present included Mrs. Max Morris, Miss Opal Marley, Miss Martha Collier, Miss Nina Catherine Howell, Miss Lucile Churchwell, Miss Bertha White, Miss Louise Bruner, Miss Carolyn Moore, Miss Evelyn Stanton, Miss Willodean White, Miss Madge Joiner, and Miss Ruth McLeod.
Members of the W S C S of Curtis Memorial Methodist Church met in regular session at 2:00 p m yesterday afternoon. Mrs Roma Walker delivered the spiritual message on The Child and his Family. Mrs Guy Wills and Mrs W B Griffin led the program. Two new officers were elected Spiritual Life chairman Mrs Ray McLennan and secretary of missionary education and service Mrs Roma Walker. Eight members attended.
The Sesame Study Club meets Wednesday at 3 15 p m at 420 E Selma St with a cancer control program. Fine Arts Club hosts Mrs William Exspy at 3 p m at her mother Mrs Rawlins McKinney. Book Review Club gathers 3 p m at Mrs W T Burkett's. Mrs Paul Allen presents the review. Several local visits noted. service league follies rehearsals set 7 p m at the high school auditorium.
The First Baptist W M S held its regular business session at the church yesterday afternoon with fifty members present. Mrs. Paul Allen presided. Mrs. Clyde Smith gave the devotional on Personal Christian Work. Minutes were read by Mrs. William Blount who noted one deficiency in achieving a 10 percent membership rise. Ralph Collines elected leader of the Young Woman's Auxiliary. 303 members in Dothan Society noted as third largest in Alabama.
The Woman's Auxiliary of the Presbyterian Church held Circle meetings yesterday in members' homes. Circle One with sixteen including one visitor. Circle Two with fourteen. Circle Three with eleven. Circle Four with eleven and a visitor. Business Women's Circle with twelve. All circles featured devotions and programs. Skit rehearsal for the Do than Service League Follies set for seven tonight at the Country Club.
Southside Baptist W M S met for a business session at the church with 31 members. Devotion and scripture from Matthew were read, prayers offered, and routine items discussed. The Girls Auxiliary met for a program led by Ida Faye Vann, eleven members present. The Southside Senior Y W A met at Miss Fanchion Amerson home with Miss Jean Dykey presiding and a mission study led by Mrs. Fred Dykens. One new member, Martha Nell Parish, joined. three visitors attended. Refreshments served to nine members.
Members of Foster Street Methodist W. and C. 8 met Monday afternoon for a business session led by vice-president Mrs. Morris Garner. A mission study meeting was announced for April 2 with Mrs. D. M. Pearson of Port St. Joe teaching The Christian Motive and Method in Stewardship.
The Crux Smart Class of Foster Street Methodist held its monthly social as a covered-dish supper at the church. Committee members, guests registered, and Dr E A Childs spoke on The Value of Persons Touch in Religion. Corsages and flash pictures highlighted the springtime themed event with attendees listed.
Mrs W B Logue, chairman, announced the completion of reserve seat tickets distribution for the Dothan Service League Follies to patrons and patronesses. Anyone who has not received tickets should contact her at 2018 Park Avenue or by telephone at 2075.
