Sam Ross Murphy of Abbeville spent yesterday in the city while Frank Daffin of Marianna and his visitor Roy Turner, both Alabama University students, were in Dothan for a short time Sunday. Atticus Mulling of Montgomery passed through Dothan en route to Columbus. Joe Lee Jessup, a former Dothan High pupil now at Alabama, was tapped by Scabbard and Blade.

Blade joins national honorary military fraternity event

The Houston Sweet Shop on Foster Street has been remodeled at a cost of 3000 dollars and is now open though the dining room will need time to finish. A formal opening is planned with hostess Mrs Gertha Couric. Frank Moss Gaines will remain in the city indefinitely and will not return to the University.

Miss Madrene Rothermel and Miss Mary Mcarty with Joe Miller and Mrs. Miller depart today for Birmingham. Rothermel, a Howard College student, has been visiting in the city through the Easter holidays.

Pensions for Confederate Vets and Widows Distributed

Pensions for Confederate Veterans and Veterans' widows in Houston County were distributed today by Probate Judge H. K. Martin. The pensions cover the three months beginning April 1.

Chicago hog prices for April 2 show 23,000 head sold at slower pace and averages down about 5 to 10 cents from Friday. Top values reach around 4.40 per pound for best 210 230 pound hogs with midweight 200 250 pounds at 4.25 4.40 and heavy weights 250 350 pounds at 3.80 4.35.

All But One Of 50 Cases Continued In County Court

Judge H K Martin heard only one of sixty cases scheduled for trial today. The rest were continued. Defendent Red Stinson was found guilty of speeding and fined 21 dollars.

Examinations for Postmasterships Announced in Dothan

An open competitive exam for postmaster at Hartford Geneva and Blocomb will be held in Dothan soon, announced by John H. Bell. Applications must be filed with Washington by April 13, 1984. Age 21 to 65, with waivers for veterans. residency required a year prior to closing date.

George Malone of Pensacola Florida formerly of Dothan disappeared from the University of North Carolina where he was a student. He is a nephew of Frank and George H Malone and has been missing about 12 days.

Woman seeks $10000 damages in auto wreck suit

Irma Byers filed suit in Houston County circuit court against Henry Byers for $10000 in general damages for injuries alleged when the automobile they were riding in overturned near Ariton on October 1 of last year. She seeks $5000 in special damages claiming permanent injury will prevent her from earning a livelihood.

Negroes Arrested On Two Attack Charges

Monroe Page Jr. was arrested by county officers during the weekend on a charge of assault and battery for alleged attack on Augusta Page. Ada Jones faced assault and battery charges for an alleged attack on Peter Jones with a fork. Will Kinsey was arrested on a concealed pistol charge.
