Gas prices fall across Illinois and Indiana in October

AAA Chicago surveys say self-serve unleaded averages drop to 1.13 in Cook County and 0.98 in northern Indiana with Dixon stations reporting declines up to six cents. Wilder Declared FirstElected Black Governor in Virginia

In Richmond Virginia Douglas Wilder appears to have won the governors race becoming the nation's first elected black governor. Republican Marshall Coleman has not conceded and will decide on a recount after the official tally. Unofficial recounts show Wilder leading 897,072 to 889,317 or 50.21 to 49.78 percent, a margin of 7,755 votes.
