Home resale decline as rates rise hits Northeast hardest
The National Association of Realtors reports February existing home sales at a 3.44 million annual rate, down 3.1 percent from January, with the Northeast dropping 18.3 percent to 580,000. Median prices rose to 93,100 nationwide, while regional gains and losses vary across the Midwest and West. The Fed’s credit stance and higher rates are cited as shrinking affordability for lower income buyers.
