Sauk Valley College board accepts secretary resignation

Sauk Valley Community College board on Monday accepted the resignation of secretary Edie Peterson of Dixon, effective March 6, with a 60 day window to appoint a replacement to serve until the November elections. Peterson cited an easement request related to her husband Dr. David Peterson’s ambulatory surgical center plans as the reason for resigning. The board held an executive session with legal counsel to discuss the easement, taking no action.

Exxon cleanup takes heat as spill worsens

Boris Yeltsin gained a huge share in Moscow while nationalist candidates fared well in Lithuania and Estonia, signaling strong demand for reform and internal change within the party. Results showed several Politburo members losing contests, including Yuri Solovev in Leningrad, with disorders seen over party mismanagement and shortages cited by diplomats. More than 80 percent of the 195 million eligible voters participated for 1500 seats in the Congress of People’s Deputies.
