Rewards Offered in Vincennes Bombing Probe

Rewards totaling more than 26000 were announced for information leading to an arrest in the bombing of a van driven by the Vincennes skipper's wife. Colgate University moved Will C. Rogers IV off campus and Sharon Rogers quit her La Jolla School teaching job amid safety concerns. A $25000 San Diego reward and a separate $1000 private reward followed the blast near Sharon Rogers's home. An anonymous caller claimed Guardians of the Islamic Revolution responsibility. An LA area military commentator received a threatening call urging him to stop broadcasting.

Fruit ban lifted on Chilean fruit amid safety plan

Ice and wind cause widespread power outages in Rock River Valley

Wind and freezing rain knocked out Commonwealth Edison lines across the Rock River Valley on St. Patrick's Day. Crews from Dixon, Dekalb, Rockford and Freeport labored Friday evening as high voltage lines failed and substations were taken offline. Outages stretched from Geneseo to Oregon and Byron with few injuries reported in surrounding counties.

Dixon High School advance placement students spent February at Heritage Square nursing home meeting one on one with residents. They interviewed seniors, drafted recollections, and reviewed them with the residents, learning about life before pizza cars and TV.
