Summer brings higher blood need across region
Amid approaching summer the Blood Center for the Heart of Illinois notes a drop in donors as people vacation and farm work peaks. Director John Glunz cites fewer students, busier schedules, and fewer sponsored bloodmobiles, yet hospitals receive 100 percent of needed blood. Daily collection aims for 300 pints to meet weekly patient needs, with O and B types most needed. Local Red Cross chapters invite more donor appointments through June and July bloodmobiles in Dixon Amboy and surrounding churches and facilities.
