Rock Falls driver escapes injury in deer collision on Rock Island Road
An Anita Cardillo of Rock Falls, 37, escaped injury when a deer darted from a ditch and struck the left side of her westbound car near the Chicago and Northwestern tracks west of Nelson. Deputies noted damage to the rear view mirror and left side. A Machesney Park trucker slid on ice on Illinois Route 26 near Henry Road in Buffalo Township and jackknifed into a ditch, with no injuries or tickets issued. A Rochelle man, Ron Kennedy, was unhurt after icy Route 2 conditions caused his car to leave the road, go over an embankment and fall 18 feet.
