Citrus crops crippled by South Florida freeze loss
The South thaws from subfreezing weekend as Florida citrus observers estimate about 40 percent of the 130 million box crop was lost in two days. Imokalee tomato and vegetable crops suffered more than 90 percent damage. officials warn the freeze could end many farms. Local leaders describe the impact as financially devastating.
