Bridge hand summary with opening lead and auction
In a West dealer game North-South vulnerable East opens a five card major style bid sequence leading to a sequence of passes and doubles. The final contract ends after North-South reach 29 and then 39 with scores around 49 percent. The opening lead was the king.
Backward finesse in a bridge deal yields a 10 trick make
A bridge puzzle shows the backward finesse. After South reaches four hearts, West leads clubs and heart ten. Declarer, with West marked high in diamonds, finesses the eight to drop the diamond queen and make ten tricks, using a diamond sequence that exploits the unknown 10 of diamonds.
